Theaster Gates is a Chicago-based installation artist and recipient of the inaugural Vera List Center Prize for Art and Politics at The New School. He was the first recipient of The New School’s Vera List Center for Art and Politics Prize in 2013, and was honored through a conference, exhibition and faculty research trip, under the heading of “Theaster Gates. A Way of Working.” The related book, Entry Points, will be available in 4 weeks, through Duke University Press.
Laurie Anderson is a performance artist, composer and musician.
bell hooks is an author, activist, feminist and scholar-in-residence at The New School. This fall is her fifth and final week-long visit in a three-year residency.
