Usage instructions: Safety precautions: Safety precautions and directions for use are included in owner’s manual. Please read this instruction manual before using your Safeway product and keep it in a safe place for future reference. If you pass the appliance on to anyone else, please include this manual. We also recommend you keep the packaging until you are satisfied that this product is operating correctly. Safeguard overheat protection system: The safeguard overheat protection system (thermal cut-out) in the blanket protects it from overheating by switching it off automatically and permanently if it overheats or is faulty. The safety system monitors the temperature of the electric blanket. If the electric blanket reaches a temperature that is considered dangerous, the system will turn it off permanently. By failing to fit your blanket properly to your mattress, your blanket may crease during use. If it creases, the likelihood of wires touching each other and creating a hot spot will increase. It is normal for the lead from the blanket to/and including the control, to become warm. Once the safety system has activated, the blanket will no longer work, and it cannot be reset. No attempt should be made to repair the blanket or have it repaired by any technician other than the manufacturer. The control must never be tampered with or replaced. Special care must be taken not to position the heated area under the pillows, as too much heat in a small area will trigger the overheat protection system in the electric blanket, rendering it inoperable. This safety feature once activated cannot be repaired. The safety overheat protection system is for your safety as well as being a requirement by law. Fitting instructions: 1. Loosely knot one end of the string to the loop at point 1. 2. Unroll the cord and going under the mattress, feed the string through the loop at point 2. 3. Following the same procedure, feeding the string through the loops at points 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively. Always passing the string underneath the mattress. 4. Going under the mattress, feed the end of the string back through the loop at point 1 and loosely tie both ends of the string together. 5. Going around the mattress, tighten the string until the electric underblanket is positioned correctly and securely to the bed. 6. Refasten the knot at point 1, this time tying securely in place. Operation: The electric blanket is safe to use all night on the setting O or OO. The electric blanket has a choice of 3 settings, O being lowest and OOO highest (turbo preheat). Pre-heat the underblanket for 30 minutes before getting into bed. Insert the underblanket’s plug into the power supply and set the control switch to “OOO”. For all-night use and better comfort set the switch to “O” or “OO” to prevent yourself from becoming too hot and to avoid the risk of heatstroke. Do not cover the control panel with blankets, pillows or duvets, or place any pressure on it. The control panel must be exposed. Switch the electric underblanket off after you get up and unplug it from the power supply. Position 0 – off. O – all night. OO – all night plus. OOO – turbo heat. Care and cleaning: Examine your blanket frequently for any signs of wear or damage to the blanket, control or cord. In case of damage or misuse, stop using the blanket and contact the supplier immediately. Cleaning: Always remove the plug from the power supply before attempting to clean the blanket, small spots can be cleaned with a cloth or damp sponge and if necessary a little mild detergent. To dry the blanket, lay it on a flat surface in the sun to dry. Do not dry clean, machine dry or iron the blanket. Do not switch the blanket on to dry it. Do not hang the blanket with clothes pegs or anything similar to dry. Do not use a hair dryer or heater to dry the blanket. Make sure the electric blanket is completely dry before using it. For household use only.
Storage instructions: Storage: The best way to store a blanket is to leave it on a bed. Failing this, store it in a dry place, but do not fold it. Folding or creasing the blanket should be avoided. Roll it up loosely, to avoid making folds in the wire. Do not place anything on top of a stored blanket. Do not place any mothproofing agents, like naphthalene, with the electric underblanket, as this will damage the insulation.
Warnings: Safety precautions: Do not use a hot water bottle, heating pad or any other product used for generating heat st the same time as using the blanket. Do not insert pins or sharp objects into the blanket. Do not tuck the electric underblanket, blanket cable or wired areas under the mattress. Do not use the electric underblanket if wet. Do not use the electric underblanket folded or rucked, always ensure that it is laid flat. Do not leave objects on the bed whilst the blanket is in use. Misuse of this electric underblanket can cause bodily harm and loss of property. Use the electric underblanket only as an underblanket. Only use the electric underblanket with the type of control unit that is marked on the marking label and/or supplied with the blanket. Never use the underblanket for handicapped or helpless persons, infants or those insensitive to heat. This electric underblanket is not intended for medical use or in hospitals. Do not use the electric underblanket on an adjustable bed, unless it can be placed in such a way that the cord cannot be trapped or the electric underblanket creased or folded. Do not wash or dry clean the underblanket. Examine the electric underblanket frequently for any signs of wear and damage. When using a mattress protector, place the electric blanket directly onto the mattress ensuring the blanket is tied securely. Then place the mattress protector over the electric blanket. Do not try to repair a fuse or thermal link on the electric underblanket. If still under the guarantee, please return the electric underblanket, along with your purchase slip and packaging to your nearest Clicks store. If the electric underblanket’s supply cord is damaged, discontinue use. Avoid creasing the electric underblanket. An adult should always supervise the use of the blanket when a child is involved. The adult should control the heat settings. This blanket may only be used in the manner in which it is intended. Using this blanket for anything other than it’s intended use will void the warranty. This blanket must always be securely and properly fitted to the bed. Do not modify this appliance in any form whatsoever. Never leave on the “turbo preheat” setting (OOO), this could lead to heat stroke. Always select “all night” (O) or “all night plus” (OO) setting when you enter the bed. Do not use this blanket on any size bed other than it has been manufactured for. A few precautions to take note of: After use, remember to switch the blanket off when you get out of bed. Ensure the bed covers are evenly spread over the electric underblanket to avoid a heat build up in any section of the electric blanket, for example, if your electric blanket is on “OOO” and your pet or a pillow is covering a small section of the electric underblanket, the section immediately under the object will become excessively hot and should the electric blanket reach a critical temperature, the safeguard overheat protection system will activate and permanently disable the blanket, rendering the blanket safe but unusable. (see safeguard overheat protection system) Please take extra care to make sure that your electric underblanket remains well-fitted at all times. Creases in the blanket should be avoided and smoothed out daily when making the bed. Environmentally-friendly disposal: Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and wellbeing.
