What raw meat can cats eat?
Here is a list of raw meats that provide your cat with optimum nutrition:
Chicken
This lean meat is low in fat and sodium, as well as being easy to digest. Chicken is high in protein and the fatty acid Omega-6, which works to promote healthy skin, muscles, and coats. It is also rich in taurine and other essential vitamins such as vitamin B6 and phosphorus. These ingredients bring nutritional benefits to cats, helping them to build muscle, maintain weight and keep teeth and bones strong.

Bacon
Cats can eat bacon, however, it is not recommended in larger quantities as it is typically high in salt and fat, which can cause health complications.
If you want to give bacon as a treat, make sure it’s fresh, raw, lean, and not cured.
Beef
Packed with protein, beef can help to promote heart health, good eyesight, and a healthy reproductive system, as well as supporting muscle and soft tissue development and maintenance.
Beef includes:
- Manganese, zinc, iron, and selenium, which also help to nourish a cat and support their wellbeing
- Vitamin A, C, and B complex
- Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats and vital for heart and eye health and for overall well being
When feeding beef, it is best to remove the fat, feeding the more lean areas of meat to cats.
Pork
Pork should be fed in moderation because it’s high in salt and saturated fat, which can lead to high blood pressure (hypertension) and obesity if fed excessively.
The iron in pork supports red blood cells, the zinc helps to maintain healthy skin and a shiny coat, niacin aids the metabolism, and vitamins B6 and B12 support the immune system, nervous system and digestive tract.
Mince
The suitability for cats depends on the type and quality of meat. For example, lean mince is better than higher fat alternatives, as high fat foods increase the likelihood of obesity and conditions such as pancreatitis. There should also be no seasonings or unsuitable ingredients added.
Minced beef can help to promote heart health, good eyesight, and a healthy reproductive system while minced turkey helps to support a healthy immune system and is a great option for a cat needing a bland diet for a short time.
Lamb
Lamb is packed with B-group vitamins, including riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), vitamin B6 and B12. These vitamins work to maintain healthy nervous function and support overall health and wellbeing.
Lamb also includes zinc, which supports cats’ immune systems, as well as being high in protein to support the growth and development of muscle and being broken for energy and blood glucose level maintenance.
