Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died on July 8, 2022, after he was shot during an election campaign event in Nara, Japan. Police arrested a 41-year-old man who was reportedly a former military serviceman and used a “home-made gun” in the suspected attack. Abe was Japan’s longest-serving prime minister and remained politically active.
