Severe thunderstorms moved through the Lehigh Valley on Thursday evening, brining torrential rain and heavy wind to the region.
The heavy rain has prompted a flash flood warning for part of Lehigh and Northampton counties until 1.15 am Friday.
Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain has fallen over the area as of 9 pm, with another 0.5 to 1 inch possible, according to the National Weather Service. Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin shortly, according to the warning.
Reports of storm damage were sporadic, with a few downed tree limbs and wires, according to emergency radio dispatches. In Nazareth, pea size hail was reported, according to weather service spotters.
The region remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight. While most of the storms were expected to be over by midnight, we could see additional rounds of showers and storms overnight, with more flooding potential in areas with repeated rounds of heavy rain.
