Indonesian police fired tear gas in a bid to disperse groups of protesters in central Jakarta following President Joko Widodo’s re-election, in ‘peaceful rally’ that turned deadly overnight.
Police said the deadly riot that erupted in central Jakarta was a “set up” incident on Wednesday after at least six people died in the civil unrest that gripped parts of the Indonesian capital.
Supporters of Prabowo Subianto vowed to continue their protest in central Jakarta on Wednesday after at least six people died in the civil unrest following the announcement of official election results.
