In South Texas, Republicans have gained an additional US House seat for the rest of the year through the victory of Mayra Flores. This comes as Rep. Tom Rice (R) loses his re-election bid in South Carolina. Additionally, lawmakers have passed a bill to provide round-the clock security for Supreme Court Justices and their families. This comes as demonstrations have been taking place near the homes of some conservative justices. Ohio Governor Mike Dewine also signed a bill into law that allows teachers to be armed in the classroom after completing a training program.
