10:42 p.m.: Local tornado and storm warnings have expired. A flash flood warning remains in effect in Northampton and Warren counties until 1:15 a.m., and a broader severe thunderstorm watch is in place until midnight. The tornado warning was in northern Bucks County, where the National Weather Service said radar indicated rotation in a storm and possible debris near Dublin and Tinicum. The weather service did not have immediate confirmation that a tornado touched down. A survey team may be dispatched in the daytime to seek any telltale damage patterns. The flash flood warning is the result of up to 1.5 inches of rain falling in a short time with up to another inch possible behind it. Flash floods happen quickly in small creeks and areas with poor drainage. The Lehigh Valley’s major waterways are expected to stay well below flood levels. A few fallen trees were broadly reported around eastern Pennsylvania. Some larger power outages also have been reported scattered across the Lehigh Valley. As of 10:30 p.m., PPL showed roughly 140 customers without power near Hellertown due to weather, and about 70 out near Ironton in North Whitehall Township due to tree limbs on wires. Met-Ed’s largest local outage was between 20 and 100 customers around Williams and Lower Saucon townships. JCP&L had about that many out in central Warren County. Other outages were more scattered and isolated. The National Weather Service has not compiled a full report on wind and hail, but a 54 mph wind gust was reported in Whitehall Township. Quarter-inch hail was seen at 8:30 p.m. in Nazareth. Two reports out of Montgomery County logged hailstones seven-tenths to three-quarters of an inch in size. This post will no longer be updated as no further warnings are anticipated. Earlier information follows.9:55 p.m.: TORNADO WARNING IN BUCKS COUNTY until 10:15. The National Weather Service says radar has indicated a possible tornado in a thunderstorm moving through northern Bucks County near Dublin, about 20 miles south of Easton. Per the weather service: “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. … TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows.
