Severe weather can occur at any time of the year however the wet season is the peak period for tropical cyclones, flooding, severe thunderstorms and heatwaves in northern Australia.

In the months ahead, northern Australia can expect:
• An increased risk of flooding to the east and the north
• A slightly above average number of tropical cyclones
• An earlier than normal monsoon
• Normal risk of heatwaves
• Normal risk of thunderstorms
• Normal bushfire potential
