Not to everyone’s taste, I’m sure, but my favorite of Michael’s non-Monkees performances was this LP track. A unique arrangement of the well-known 1930 song hit, complete with accompanying sound effects, this later provided the inspiration for Lou Christie’s more compact 1974 adult-contemporary hit single of the tune ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_zX17-NO4w ). Mike’s “Magnetic South” LP also included his most successful solo hit “Joanne” ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF_6WGIwZbM ).
