http://92YAmericanConversation.org | In this clip, Sally Fields explains how she got the part of Molly in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.”
From Gidget to Norma Rae, from Absence of Malice to Mrs. Doubtfire, Sally Field’s performances express a variety of American womanhood. She is the winner of two Oscars (including for Places in the Heart) and an Emmy (Sybil).
In Lincoln, she plays Mary Todd, the wife of the 16th President (Daniel Day-Lewis), during his tumultuous final months in office. The supporting cast boasts Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and David Strathairn. The script by Tony Kushner is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s biography. Spielberg’s celebrated collaborators—including cinematographer Janusz Kaminski and composer John Williams—are back as the creative team behind Lincoln.
