It’s been two years since the Succession season 2 finale aired on HBO. This video recaps everything that happened leading up to Kendall’s (Jeremy Strong) shocking turn on his father Logan Roy (Brian Cox) at the end. The Roy family is trying to keep control of their business Waystar Royco after the Bear Hug set in motion at the end of Season 1. They’re in a proxy fight with a shareholder meeting coming up, and they need to make a blood sacrifice to counter the negative press surrounding their Cruise Division controversy.

Kendall Roy is indebted to his father for helping him after the fatal car crash at the end of the first season. Shiv is floated for the CEO role early in the season but she eventually falls out of favor by the end. The Cruise cover-up involves her husband Tom who inherits it, and cousin Greg (Nicolaus Braun) who he tasks with destroying the documents.

Season 2 Episode 10 “This is not for Tears” was one of the most intense Succession episodes to close out a fantastic second season. On the Roys’ grand Mediterranean yacht, Logan weighs whether a member of the family or a top lieutenant will need to be sacrificed to salvage the company’s tarnished reputation. Roman (Kieran Culkin) shares his hesitations about a new source of financing, as Kendall suggests a familiar alternative. Shiv (Sarah Snook) proposes taking her open marriage with Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) to another level. Connor (Alan Ruck) finds himself in an unenviable position as reviews of Willa’s (Justine Lupe) play roll in.
