Former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger has died at his home in Connecticut at the age of 100.
His death was announced in a statement by his consulting firm which did not give any more information about the cause of his passing.
Mr Kissinger was a titan of US foreign policy throughout the administrations of two presidents – Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
He was the only person ever to be White House national security adviser and secretary of state at the same time.
Kissinger had a hand in many global events, including the Vietnam War, the diplomatic opening of China, landmark US Soviet arms control talks and expanded ties between Israel and its Arab neighbours.
