Russian forces are retreating in Ukraine’s east and south amid high casualties, the Wagner chief has claimed.

Yevgeny Prigozhin said troops were retreating in Kherson and Zaporzhzhia, adding that “our soldiers are dying” and “leaving with wounds.”

It comes as the Russian mercenary chief claimed the war in Ukraine was unnecessary, and accused the Russian defence ministry of deception.
