Stand-up comedian and Peacock’s Bust Down co-creator Jak Knight passed suddenly on July 14 in Los Angeles, according to a statement from his family to NBC News. He was 28.
Knight’s family asked that “their privacy be be respected at this terribly difficult time” and no cause of death was disclosed.
Knight earned accolades for both writing and performing throughout his career. In addition to co-creating the show, he also co-starred in it with Chris Redd, Sam Jay, and Langston Kerman. In addition, the comedian wrote five seasons of the animated series Big Mouth and provided the voice of Devon on the streaming service.
He wrote for Immoral Compass, Black-ish, and Lucas Bros. Moving Co.
Knight considered his connection with Big Mouth in 2018. In an interview with RESPECT Magazine, he stated that “writing is fantastic” and “simply being in the room with some of the most talented people alive is incredible. I get to sit across the table with folks like Jordan Peele and Maya Rudolph and it’s strange, but it’s a lot of work, work.”
According to his family’s statement, Knight performed live in stand-up comedy gigs all over the world. He was hired in 2018 as a featured comic on Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup thanks to his ability.
Comedy Central, which had designated Knight a “Comedy Central Comic to Watch” in 2014, paid tribute to Knight on Twitter after his demise.
On July 15, the network tweeted, “Jak Knight was a hysterical and honest comic.” “He will be sorely missed,”
